What trends are shaping the health and wellness industry right now? What trends are shaping the health and wellness industry right now?

People are looking for wellness that is practical, personal, and connected to real life. The biggest trends I see are water safety, nervous-system regulation, breath, mobility, confidence, recovery, and helping both children and adults reconnect with their bodies. People do not just want exercise anymore — they want to feel better, move better, breathe better, and trust themselves again.

How do you approach holistic well-being with your clients or audience?

I approach holistic well-being through the whole person: body, breath, attention, confidence, safety, and joy. Whether I am teaching a child, an adult, a beginner, or an anxious swimmer, I do not just teach a skill. I help the student feel safe in their body and in the water. At SLS, swimming is water safety, body confidence, emotional regulation, and a lifetime sport.

What challenges do you see in helping people sustain healthy habits?

The biggest challenge is that people think healthy habits have to be extreme or perfect. They wait for the right time, the right schedule, the right pool, the right body, or the right motivation. I believe the next is now. Breath, movement, water confidence, repetition, and small consistent steps are what create lasting change.

How do you tailor programs for different fitness or health needs?

I teach each student individually. I watch how they breathe, move, listen, focus, react, and feel in the water. I do not rush stages. SLS teaches in clear progressions, and we do not move forward until the foundation is correct. Every student is different, so the lesson has to meet the body and mind in front of me.

What role does technology play in supporting wellness today?

Technology can help people find information, schedule lessons, learn, communicate, and stay connected. It helps with marketing, education, websites, social media, and visibility. But technology should support real-life wellness, not replace it. The real transformation still happens through breath, movement, practice, presence, and human connection.

Can you share a story of transformation you’ve witnessed?

I have watched children come into the pool unsure, tense, or resistant, and over time become confident swimmers who trust themselves in the water. That transformation changes the whole family. The child learns, “I can do this,” and the parent learns how to support the process. That is bigger than a swim lesson — it is confidence for life.

What motivates you in this industry every day?

I am motivated by transformation. I love watching people move from confusion and doubt into confidence, alignment, body trust, safety, joy, and empowerment. Swimming is a life-saving skill, but it is also a lifetime sport and a way to reconnect with the body. Helping people feel safe, strong, and happy in the water is what keeps me going every day.
