Elizabeth “Beth” Tate is an executive advisor, business owner, and community leader with decades
of experience helping organizations navigate growth, change, governance, risk, and
complex strategic decisions.
As Founder and Managing Director of The Kesley Group, Beth works with nonprofit and
business leaders to strengthen organizations, clarify strategy, improve governance, and
build the systems and leadership practices needed for long-term success. Her
perspective is shaped by an executive career spanning Fortune 500 companies,
entrepreneurial ventures, nonprofit leadership, and extensive civic and board service.
Beth spent more than two decades in senior technology, risk, audit, and governance
roles, including serving as a Managing Director and Chief Auditor at Citi and Vice
President of Technology Audit at Capital One. Throughout her corporate career, she
advised senior executives, worked with regulators, led global teams, and helped
organizations address complex issues involving accountability, risk, organizational
change, and leadership.
Her nonprofit experience is equally hands-on. Beth has served as a nonprofit board
chair, audit committee chair, treasurer, and board member and was called upon to
serve as Interim CEO of Family Foundations of Northeast Florida during a period of
significant organizational challenge. That experience reinforced her belief that a strong
mission must be supported by equally strong leadership, governance, financial
stewardship, and operating systems.
Today, Beth is deeply engaged in Northeast Florida’s nonprofit, business, and civic
community. In 2026, she joined the Board of Directors of United Way of St. Johns and
Putnam Counties, continuing a longstanding relationship with United Way that
previously included board service with United Way of Northeast Florida. Her community
leadership also includes Habitat for Humanity and the St. Johns County Chamber of
Commerce. She is a frequent facilitator, speaker, and writer on nonprofit leadership,
governance, public policy, organizational effectiveness, and community issues.
As host of On a Mission, Beth brings together nonprofit leaders and changemakers for
thoughtful conversations about the missions they serve, the challenges they face, the
lessons they have learned, and the impact they are working to create. Her goal is to go
beyond the organizational elevator pitch and introduce audiences to the people,
leadership decisions, and stories behind the mission.
