“Up, Up, and Away!” Summer Art and Drama Camps Offer Something for Everyone at First Coast Cultural Center

Registration is now open for the Up, Up, and Away! Summer Art Camps for children ages 6 – 12, and these adventures will be held Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at First Coast Cultural Center, 6000B Sawgrass Village Circle, Ponte Vedra, FL, 32082.

Fantasy Flyers is the theme for Week 1, June 2 – 5, and it will highlight an imaginary world filled with flying creatures, such as fairies and dragons. Activities include drawing, painting, sculpting, printing, and learning about folklore. During Week 2, June 8 – 12, students will lift off to Space & Beyond while designing projects inspired by planets, stars, and constellations.

Things with Wings takes flight during Week 3, June 15 – 19, and participants will investigate animals, machines, and other winged creations through drawings and sculptures. Meanwhile, Week 4, June 22 – 26, is focused on Artful Engineering. Campers will combine art and engineering to construct projects inspired by machines in the sky, like hot air balloons, helicopters, and kites.

The next two weeks will highlight textile projects. Week 5, July 6 – 10, focuses on an Aerial Perspective as campers draw, paint, and craft artworks using imagination. Textures in the Sky is the theme for Week 6, July 13 – 17. This series includes designing patterned collages, textile works, and clay patterns, and painting with unusual tools to create various textures.

During Week 7, July 20 – 24, campers will be Reaching the Sun. From Redwood trees to mountain peaks, this week is all about exploring what reaches for the sun. Campers will use drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media as their creativity soars.

In addition to the Summer Art Camps, FCCC will host a 2-Day Drama Camp, June 29 and 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. With Disney Acting Coach Sheri Lahris as a guide, campers will develop improvisational skills and imagine endless possibilities given the right techniques and tools.
