Short company description:
Board Member for the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. Local emergency medicine physician in the community and now at Mayo Clinic. Hoping to raise awareness for Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month (September) and highlight the great things the Jay Fund is doing for people in our community. Hoping to use the time to help raise some funds for the organization by running on their behalf in the NYC Marathon this November. All funds raise through my campaign go directly to the organization and the families that its supports and is also tax deductible.
How do you define success?
I define success by my ability to stay consistent with the habits that allow me to move forward everyday with purpose and intention.
What lessons from sports have you applied to your personal life and career?
Sports have taught me discipline and how to work hard for the benefit of a group.
What strategies do you use to improve your performance?
Quite honestly, I prioritize presence in the moment. That and to allow grace, especially towards myself, if I fall short of my goal as long as my effort was nothing short of my best in that situation.
Can You Discuss a Time When You Had to Work with a Team to Achieve a Goal?
I have numerous accounts, but the most significant in this moment is training to take part in the NYC Marathon (first marathon) in order to benefit local families dealing with childhood cancer. I am not a runner. I started running 30 secs on followed by 2 min of walking to make it a mile a few months ago. Now I’ve run 12 miles this week. It’s a tremendous mental as well as physical challenge for me. One that I am happy to undertake as I imagine that the stresses of being a parent to a sick child far outweigh my experience.
