About Malivai Washington Youth FoundationThe MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation is a 501 c3 nonprofit organization serving primarily the 32209 zip code of northwest Jacksonville Florida. For 30 years through comprehensive education, life skills, tennis and financial literacy programing, we have aimed to help young people from kindergarten through high school, college and into adulthood realize their full potential and become productive members of society.
What differentiates you from the competition? Our commitment to serving the Jacksonville community for 30 years is rare for any non profit organization. We provide a unique approach for youth development both on the tennis court and in the classroom.
What are your top selling services or products that your company offers? We combine tennis, life skills, education and financial literacy to impact youth ages 5-18 years old. We then continue to serve our students into adulthood. We have become their second family.
What is the biggest marketing challenge that you will face in the upcoming year?It is increasingly difficult as individuals, companies and government agencies are more strategic with their spending. We must communicate what makes our youth programming unique and why the investment is important for the community.

What is the core mission of your organization? The mission of the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation is to develop champions in the classroom, on the tennis court and throughout communities.

How do you measure impact and success in your programs?Success happens every day a student shows up. I know when they are exposed to our programs, mentors and staff they are impacted and supported one success moment at a time.

What are your biggest fundraising or outreach challenges? There is a never ending stream of youth who need after school programming. We’re not the only youth non profit in town or the only organization seeking of community support. It is an ongoing effort to show our donors that what we’re doing is working and it is worth their continued support.

How do you build long-term relationships with donors and supporters? Our volunteers and donors want to be a part of something that is making a unique difference in the world. There is no greater joy than positively impacting a life. I feel that being able to show that a donated hour of time or a donated dollar, directly impacts our ability to serve our youth leading directly to their success.

What trends are influencing the nonprofit world today? Our stakeholders want to see sustained success. This can only occur when we show that our students are not only having success today but they are impacting the world long into adulthood.

Can you share a story that shows your mission in action? Our mission is in action each day one or our students goes to school, helps clean the St Johns River, does a community clean up, makes holiday cards for the elderly, receives a scholarship, wins a tennis tournament or gets up in front to 500 people to give a speech.

What keeps you motivated in this work?I’m motivated by watching a young person achieve small successes everyday.
