How long have you been in your industry?8 Years
Why did you choose your industry? After serving 22.5 years in the Air Force, I still wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. Songwriting and performing came naturally and provided me the platform to help others.
Who are your typical clients?Music/Concert Venues (Large & Small), Corporate Events and Non-Profit Support.
What do you like best about being in this industry? There is nothing greater to me than putting pen to paper, translating it to melodic form, performing the song and then hearing from listeners the appreciation they have because they have been through the same experience.
What are common problems you see?Lack of authenticity and a market full of performers.
What advice/tips do you have for clients? When you see a performer at a venue, please understand that it took a lot more effort to prepare for the show than the effort of the actual performance. If you liked a performance, let the artist know, follow them on social media or go to another show.
When is your busy season?Typically summer; however, there is live music everywhere, all the time.
What keeps you up at night? The ever-changing world of the music industry. New technology and capitalism drive innovation ...which in turn drives change in performance, performance marketing and communication.
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Online (Website/Social Media) and in-person, face-to-face interactions with real people. Additionally, Radio and other Media Organizations.
How involved are you in the community?I am a board member with the Arts Alliance of Putnam (Arts Non-Profit in Palatka, FL) and perform with Foodie Cares to help raise money for other non-profit organizations in the region.
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?I have a few … (1) Operation Encore (an organization support Veterans and Veteran Spouses who are songwriters). (2) Foodies Care (Sharing meals for those in need) and (3) The Arts Alliance of Putnam (the driving organization for the arts in Putnam County).
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Patience and hard work go a long way. It may take a lot of and practice to be noticed in an oversaturated field… however, when you do get an opportunity, work tirelessly to ensure it the best show/performance you’ve ever had!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I am a family guy…so, that comes first. After that, I love the outdoors (fishing, camping, hiking, etc).
