How long have you been in your industry?4
Why did you choose your industry? To utilize my analytical brain to help families with a needed aspect for life improvement and generational wealth
Who are your typical clients?First Time Home Buyers or Self Employed borrowers
What do you like best about being in this industry?I had a guy in his 40's buy in March, he was the most grateful I've ever seen someone because he never thought it would be possible for him. Another couple closed in June after working to qualify for the home and land they wanted for 7 months. Helping people achieve the things they once thought impossible is the best
What are common problems you see?Lack of communication, lack of education, and over-promising to sell the client one thing...then turning around and telling them later what the reality is. I checked a local credit union rates over the weekend, the fine print tells you that the rates are based on great credit and 40% down payment. Not many people are qualifying for that
What advice/tips do you have for clients?Live on a budget. If you can control that aspect of your life then you'll be in a better place for when other people or events affect you. Also, interview your loan officer just like you would with a financial advisor or realtor.
When is your busy season?Spring, followed by end of year
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?Providing information. To the buyers via social media, to the realtors or financial advisors via trainings or social media. I want to work with educated individuals and when clients see the value and knowledge that I have, they want to work with my team.
How involved are you in the community?Serving at church in the kids ministry and leading a couples' disciple group
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Eleven22
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Prepare for rejection. Usually it's not personal, but there is rejection coming. And check the details on every deal, those can break or greatly improve the scenario for a deal.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Sports, cooking and eating with friends, or taking my kids to the beach or zoo
